The Paul Revere Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Executive Board welcomes you to an exciting school year. You are joining the Paul Revere community at a time of positive growth at the school, and we invite you to grow with us by joining the Paul Revere PTA.
Our theme this year is “Growing Together.” With parents, teachers, administration, and the larger community, we can work together to enrich our children’s school experience. Our events and programs are designed to build community and broaden family involvement. We welcome your enthusiasm and expertise no matter what your background, language, interests, or abilities.
Among the benefits of becoming a member, you join a committed and diverse group of educators, parents, volunteers, and neighbors working to make Paul Revere an even better school; part of your annual dues helps to support enrichment and academic activities both inside and outside your child's classroom; you automatically become a member of the California State and National PTAs, the largest volunteer child advocacy groups in the state and nation. Membership dues are $5.
At a time when public education funds are being cut, the PTA provides crucial support for many important programs, including field trips at all grade levels, the library, cultural celebrations at school, and the arts.
Mark your calendars for our major fund-raiser of the year, the 2nd annual Paul Revere Walk-a-Thon 2009, on Saturday, November 14th at 10:00 AM. Last year, our Walk-a-Thon was a tremendous success, and this year we will build on that success and the community relationships it fostered. This is one of several fun, student-oriented events we are planning for this school year and where families are encouraged to participate in various ways.
Money raised at PTA-sponsored events goes directly to the classrooms and academic and other programs benefiting all children at Paul Revere. Some PTA initiatives include a school beautification project, support for new teachers in preparing their classrooms, and providing healthy meals and snacks for students during state testing periods.
There are many ways to get involved in your child's education through the PTA. You can become a PTA member, attend a monthly PTA meeting, volunteer your time and talents to make posters or write a grant proposal, make a financial donation. Last year, a small group of parents formed the Greening Committee, which helped to coordinate improvements in environmentally sustainable practices all over our school and is working to incorporate greening activities into the curriculum. Even spending just one hour a month making phone calls from your home as a classroom partner or chopping vegetables and fruits at school for our healthy snack program is a valuable contribution.
Come to our first PTA meeting on Monday, September 14th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Food and childcare are provided. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any one of our officers.
