Family Involvement

Get involved at Paul Revere!

Family participation at school improves children's success and helps to make our school even better. Stop by the Paul Revere Family Resource Center in Room 105 in the Annex Building to find out what's going on. Here are some ways that you can get involved at Paul Revere:

  • Attend parent/teacher conferences and stay in touch with your child's teacher: Keeping in touch with the teacher shows your child that his/her education is important to you and allows you and the teacher to solve any small problems before they become big ones.
  • Volunteer in the classroom: Teachers welcome parents who can volunteer in their classrooms preparing materials, reading with children, or helping with class activities, parties or field trips. Even if you can only come one hour a month, we encourage you to volunteer in the classroom on a regular basis. Talk to your child's teacher about when would be a good time to volunteer.
  • Be a room parent: Help the teacher to contact other parents about classroom activities, field trips, and school events.
  • Help supervise the cafeteria or playground: Your child will love to see you at lunch or recess, and you can be a huge help to the lunch and recess supervisors.
  • Volunteer in the Office, Library or Computer Lab: Talk to staff in these areas or your Parent Liaison to find out how you can help.
  • Read the Paul Revere News. Find out about upcoming activities and get your monthly calender.
  • Join School Site Council/English Learner Advisory Committee. This group meets monthly to make decisions about the budget and school programs. All parents are welcome to attend. If you are interested in being a voting member, please talk wtih the Parent Liaison or the Principal.
  • Bring your child to family activities: It shows your child how important you think his/her education is when you come to a school performance or event. At Paul Revere, we have many activities during the year that give parents a chance to have fun with their kids and meet other families from Paul Revere. Some examples of family activities are: Back to School Night, Family Literacy and Math Nights, Cultural performances, Family Movie Days, School-wide dances and picnics.
  • Attend parent meetings and workshops: Parent meetings and workshops are a chance for you to share your opinions and learn about different aspects of your child's education.
  • Help with fundraisers: Paul Revere can always use your help to raise money, whether it's selling raffle tickets or selling popcorn at the movies.
  • Join the Parent Teacher Association: The Paul Revere School PTA is a group of teachers, parents, guardians, and community members who coordinate activities, events, and fundraisers. The primary aim of the PTA is to support the Academic Plan developed by the schools governing body, the School Site Council. It is also a forum for all members of the Paul Revere community to share their ideas and concerns. Please join us for our monthly meetings. Even better, join a committee!
